Family Fitness
Family Fitness is all about being the best you can be, as a spouse and as a parent.
We use the term 'fitness' to parallel physical fitness, in terms of positive promotion. A campaign to promote physical fitness would never condemn people, say they are "bad", or discriminate against them for being out of shape. Rather, it would promote the benefits of fitness and provide the inspiration and information to enable people to achieve it for themselves. So too, our purpose is not to pass judgement, but to promote the benefits that can be achieved .
The Purpose of our Family Fitness Campaign is to strengthen the institution of marriage by strengthening existing marriages. Indirect benefits include:
- Reduction in the divorce rate
- Better home environments for children
- Improved public image of marriage, greater appeal, and greater participation
The cornerstone of our Family Fitness campaign is our Family Fitness website. Still under development, here are some of the features:
Guidebook: Since we plan to have a LOT on our website, the Guidebook will provide an orientation to help users find what they are looking for. Some people will just be looking for new ideas, whereas others might be coming to us as a desperate last resort, so the Guidebook will also help people to identify what they need.
Articles: A plethora of written material covering a broad range of topics and approaches. In time we will add audio and video presentations as well.
Email subscriptions: Users will be able to sign up for daily or weekly emails in categories such as Inspiration, Practical Tips, and Deeper Reading.
Forums: A safe place online to share and learn from others in similar circumstances. Professionals will be available to answer questions and to comment.
Tools: Program guidelines will be available for certain issues. Charts and other support material will be provided.
References, Resources, and Referrals: For those who need more help than our site provides, we will list references and contact information for professionals. We may implement Reviews and Ratings.
LIVE SUPPORT: In addition to the website, we can arrange 'buddies', mentors, support groups, group counseling, speaker series, etc. Where possible, we will arrange for free or reduced-price professional services.
